I eat at Dos Segundos so much I figured I would give it it's own topic on the Philly Phorum.

Eric. and I stopped by last night for Brewsday Tuesday and they had $1 Pineapple Tempeh Taquitos on special. They were super awesome and delicious, and I hope they serve them more often.

Dos Segundos is extremely vegan friendly, and a good place to go with a group of friends since there is something for everyone.

They have:
Tofu and Tempeh Bacon Burrito
Ginger Seitan Tacos
Vegan Beef (which can be added to any burrito, taco, chimichanga)
Vegan French Toast
Mixta Salad (one of the best salads ever!)
Vegan Desserts

The mixta salad is the best! I just had a discussion about its awesomeness last night! I haven't had one in a while. I haven't been to Cantina since they raised the price of the fajitas and supposedly made the portion smaller. :( It is probably still a lot of food, though! The smoked tofu they use for the fajitas is so, so good.

I wonder if they are still doing Vegan Drinks? I haven't heard about it in a while. I went a couple times last year and really enjoyed the vegan drink specials! Natalie Portman Pajama Party!

I still haven't been for brunch. I am dying to try the french toast. I wonder if Cantina Los Caballitos makes it, too? I have a feeling Cantina Dos might be a little more vegan-friendly.

Cantina is one of my favorite places, too. They haven't done Vegan Drinks in some time.

The Mixta Salad is delicious!

** Mixta - avocado, hearts of palm, jicama, orange sections, radishes,
almonds, mixed greens, piquin chile vinaigrette 8

hope they do some more. not sure how strict some of you are for alcoholic beverages but many places (even vegan restaurants) dont always check if all their liquor is vegan. just an fyi.

Cantina Los Caballitos has the french toast as well sometimes and imo usually have close to if not more vegan options. i think their french toast comes with a soy whip cream topping as well.

I've never been to Los Caballitos, but Dos Segundos has become one of my favorites! It's a great place to take non-vegans too. I almost always get the vegan fajitas, the guacamole appetizer (comes with amazing fresh-made tortilla chips), and the Endless Summer cocktail (has jalapenos and cucumber in it, which sounds weird but I love it).

Truth! I give the DRPA too much damn money as it is! Should have just moved to Philly when we were buying a house. I'm in the city more than I am at home.

Not too take the spotlight off of dos segundos, but the restaurant that was there before dos segundos was by farrrr so much better. RIP Azure, you are missed. I love you and your out-of-this-world-good seitan tips entree with a side of polenta fries.

Azure's tofu tacos...also the place where I lost my seitan virginity during dinner with my editor that I had a crush on and then felt kind of sick afterwards. I think I was not used to digesting it at that point...

Azure closed before I moved to Philly, kind of bummed I never got to try it. It still comes up in restaurant searches and I remember being so excited the first time I saw it, only to find out it didn't exist. Fail.

HUGE NEWS!
I just learned that Cantina Dos Segundos is pretty much next door to the place my office is holding its holiday party next Thursday (North Bowl). Considering I never get to that area, anyone who is available should meet me for dinner (or really really early dinner, since I don't plan on staying at the party till 5pm, its end time). Anyone available?

That's really, really weird. What time were you planning on going on Friday? You could just try to wing it, although I know that's never easy with parents involved. I've been on plenty of Friday nights, and while it's crowded, it's not impossible to get a table.
