I've been wanting to do an update on Scarlett forever! She is 15 months and just started walking a month ago. She's already gotten fast and is fascinated by scary things like climbing stairs. I think she's a pretty amazing talker for her age. We stopped bothering with sign language because she picks up words so easily. I don't really know what age this normally starts but she regularly puts two words together, like "hi mama," "dog woof," "wewwow (yellow) duck," "more titty." Yeah, I didn't teach her that, she just decided that's what they're called. She's a very enthusiastic eater and asks for more of everything until she's full. She still seems huge compared to other babies her age, but her growth has slowed down significantly. She's been in the same clothes for about 6 months and has been somewhere around 25-26 lbs since her 12 month check-up. She loves to laugh at weird things that she somehow finds hilarious, play hide and seek, and read books. She'll sit by herself and flip through a book and babble about what she's looking at. I've been working a TON and sometimes really miss her, but she still knows who I am. My partner is a way better stay at home parent than I would be and be loves to teach her new words and take her places. I will post pictures when I get a chance! My heart explodes daily from the cuteness!

I think this is the first year I've ever not done a separate thread for it but I only have a minute to update: guess who turned 4 today?

This guy!

Hey...Happy 4th! What sort of cake is that? It looks scrummy!

@moo, Scarlett sounds much like Freya at that age. Crazy chunky and talking like mad. It only gets better ;)

It's just a plain vanilla cake-- half a recipe of the vanilla cupcakes from VCTOTW fits perfectly in one of our bundt pans. We had it with the vanilla berry flavored Coconut Bliss.

(His party is on Saturday and a he wants an... Ambitious cake so I took it easy on his actual birthday.)

So, we're back from Elijah's foot appointment. I am kinda sad at the outcome, but I know this is what needs to be done. He has been put in casts for a few weeks/months to fix the clubfoot issue. We go back in 2wks for a follow-up. And he will get a few sets of casts, and then braces. This is such bad timing. His bday coming up, then Halloween, then Christmas/Yule, and other holidays where we had super cute planned outfits :( No pants will fit over those big things now... grrr!

Anyway, he is doing good. Getting used to the casts. Trying to learn to crawl again. He'd gotten so used to walking... he doesn't like being low on the floor :(

D'oh!! I hope he takes it well and that it comes off asap! Can you incorporate it into a costume at all? Like maybe make him an astronaut or something?

Anyway, good luck with the weeks ahead!

Doing fine now... just doesn't know how to stand anymore

Hmm, I dunno about a costume. I'll have to think more on it

Ha! I agree. We need video LP!

Ada is adjusting pretty well to preschool. This week was 1.5 hrs and next week is the full 2.5 hrs. I basically hang out with her for a couple of minutes and then say I'm going and she's perfectly fine with it. She seems to love it. It's just so strange to not know what's going on when she's there! I just want to peek in and see how she interacts with everyone. Luckily she talks about everything and I get bits and pieces of what went on throughout the day.

Sashi. I'm still like that with Reno and she's in the 1st grade. It so weird that they are doing something without you away from home. That's why for both years of preschool I sent her to a co-op school where the parents had to help out in the class every once or twice a month. I was also on the board of the school so knew everything that was going on. :)

haha Jenna I'm glad you posted that, I feel sorta creepy about how I want more knowledge about what my growing girl is doing, like just minor stuff about how she acts. I guess I wish I had a spy camera. In our case, D is actually pretty tight-lipped about what goes on at school. We have a hard time getting details out of her about what she does, but then sometimes all out of nowhere she'll tell us about an experience she had. And she's only at school for 2.5 hours now - I'm surprised at how hard it is for me to let go! Another challenge of motherhood that I never really thought about.

Reno is the same way. It is so hard to get info out although she is finally getting better at giving up school info. When she comes home from school she alway's plays pretend school and that's how I learn about what goes on during the day. :)

Well I got out of her yesterday that she painted (the paint on her shirt helped with that one) but she was also talking about yoga and applesauce. But she had apples as part of snack so I'm not sure what applesauce has to do with yoga. I really just wanted to email the teacher but I don't want to be the crazy parent emailing all of the time for clarification. Ha. I think the teacher is supposed to be emailing updates every week so we'll see if we actually get one today. I'm guessing a very general this is what everyone did email. But yes Audrey, a spy camera would be nice ;-)
Jenna, I really wanted to do a coop preschool but we didn't know if there would be a spot in one and I had no idea what it would be like with Alice (this was when I was still pregnant) so we took the spot at this school before we lost it.

Co-ops are annoying when you have a baby. I had Miles at the end of Reno's first year so during her whole second year my Mom had to watch Miles once or twice a month and then my husband would be alone with him and Reno when I had board meetings there at night. He was still nursing and would take a bottle but would not be happy about it. It was very stressful for me.

Maybe they sit cross-legged during some of the yoga? My kindergarten-age son has always done "criss-cross, applesauce" for cross-legged sitting. (It's that rhyme.. criss-cross, applesauce, hands in your lap.)

Zeph's fourth molar just broke through today. Yesterday marked 15 months old for him. We had to turn around his car seat to face forward, because he's now too big to fit the other way. Poor baby was getting smushed! He's been really into hugging and kissing lately, especially his brother. He'll sneak up behind him, and attack him with a hug. It's unbearably cute.
