Guess what time it is, people?!

Time to pour a large glass of smokin' hot holy shiitake, don your funkiest pair of steampunk goggles and jump on the couch while brandishing a bullwhip and a leaf of red russian kale. Party time!
Time to think about what you're writing, or maybe just to write for the pure joy of writing.

This year i am going for humor and snark instead of my usual angstful midlife bullshiitake. i've done my research and read lots of burroughs and DFW. i don't have a large store of chemical stimulants but i'm getting to the age where they don't do jack shiitake anyway, all i need to do it sit in one position too long and i start to see pterodactyls out of the corner of my eyes.

Who's in?

I'm in! But, I have a super important exam November 12th. Thus, my game plan is to start November 13th and then write double-time. It will probably be erotic fiction because that is easiest stuff to write hard and fast.

I'm in! I'll be having to focus on a final paper for my class but will be delegating time for nano. I hope I win, but I'm not sure!

well i think i just jinxed myself by writing two thousand words of midlife angstful bullshitty ghost stories on the eve of nanowrimo. maybe if i drink another half bottle of wine it will be penance and tomorrow will be okay.

I'm in. I'm only aiming for around 40,000 words. I did the 50,000+ word limit in 2011. But I'm going to carry on with my novel starting tomorrow--err--or so. May not begin till Monday, I've been writing like crazy these past few days (short story to finish) and need a freakin' break!

Also, writing a satire. Or that's my goal. It keeps evolving. It's already evolved from earnest (at the beginning) into satire. I think what I'm doing will work better satirically. I cannot earnestly pull it off, no way, no how, I've figured that much out. But anyway, funny is the most fun to write in my experience. Or at least it's the most fun doing it. Whether it works on an audience is a whole other matter but it's much too early for me to worry about that...just gotta get it all hammered out like a story/plotting/character(s) template then worry about effects and delving into the smaller and specific details later.

Aaaaaaaand just like clockwork, it's pouring!! two weeks of nearly no work, and now i have 25,000 words for next Thursday (4 different jobs). November 1 and Nanowrimo is the rainmaker that keeps my savannah watered. I could kiss it on its little wet nose.

So, I'll just try this for a bit with no preparation whatsoever and see how it goes.

Yay! First day of Nano. Imma spend the weekend (or some of it) reviewing what I've already written cuz I haven't done that since June so I'm not even sure where things are at anymore on my novel project. I already wrote today but not Nano contribution (polished off short story for deadline today). I'll start Nanoing Monday because I am DONE with writing right now.

Hey Nanoers! How's it going? I'm still working on my novel but not counting my progress in words. Working away steadily though. How are you all doing?

I got 11000 words so far. I think the content sucks but I enjoy writing aimlessly. Hopefully I can keep it up.

this is the first year where I realize that November is my busiest work month, and I make myself sick with guilt every year. This year, I thumb my nose and if I have any free time, I will do interpretive dance instead.

Last year I started and got pretty far, but then got swamped with work and didn't finish! I might try again this year... I am not decided. My circumstances are more or less identical so I have no idea if I'll have time again.

I'm not writing a novel but working on a novella, one of my longer projects, for NaNo this year. My goal is to have the first draft completed by the end of November and hopefully get some editing on it started. Yay, NaNoers! I will feed off your triumphs, word furies and inspirationz! <3 <3 <3

This is probably my least crazy year since my first attempt in 2010 (or my camp attempt this July). I'm pretty excited! I hope to actually succeed this year. I think it will be a huge challenge since my computer recently broke, though. Kind of a PITA to count my words. . . but I enjoy writing by hand, when word count isn't a factor! I don't go nearly as quickly as I do on the computer, but I find it lends itself to a much longer, much more thought-out first typed draft. So at least I know that if I manage to write 50,000 words by hand, it'll be worth a lot more than 50,000 words typed.

Not doing NaNoWriMo, but I will be power-writing a major chapter of my dissertation this month. That's practically the same thing, though, right? (Write.) Anyway, luck to everyone here! And luck to me and my dissertation, too.

I've won every year (with one adjusted to a lower level because I knew I'd be busy). I'm probably going to try to figure out something soon that'll be shorter.
