I'm used to living places where people aren't afraid of using salt to make roads driveable. Although it is a bit humorous to watch people who have no business driving in the snow (Mr 1970's Chevy Nova from 2 years ago, I'm talking about you!) try to navigate Seattle's hills. Word on the streets, so to speak, is that Seattle's going to use salt this year. So maybe it'll be better than two years ago if we get significant snow.

I'm a snowmudgen now that I have to go to work. It's icy here on side streets, but the main roads are fine. ACK!

seriously...metro.
metro buses are chained up and using snow routes which fine, overkill, but fine. Although it would've been nice if this was announced sometime during the 6am news because i could have saved myself from standing outside for 45 mins waiting for the bus.
plus no one is in the office because of the snow. BAH!

plus no one is in the office because of the snow. BAH! I'd blame your news source because Metro announced that they'd be on snow routes today some time yesterday afternoon and I heard it all over KING-5 evening news and on the local news on KONG this morning. Not that knowing saved me from waiting an hour and forking forty minutes for a forking bus this morning. So far today, Metro gets an F- from me. They might move up to an F if they can get me home with less than an hour wait.

So... what's good to eat in West Seattle? My work Christmas party is at West Seattle Bowl and they're ordering pizza from some place that has butter in the crust and beef broth in the sauce. Either I get salad or I pick something up nearby and they will oh-so-generously expense it for me (I'll have to sneak it into the bowling alley since the only outside food they allow is this crepe pizza joint.)

Cool, thanks. I'll probably opt for pizza since it will be less obvious that I've broken the bowling alley's rules.

But a sandwich does not look like a pizza.

SDOT is conducting a short survey to figure out what’s working and what isn’t in Seattle’s transit system. The survey takes less than 10 minutes and asks some basic questions about how you currently use transit and what you’d like to see improved. http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/t ... survey.htm

I just took it. I really do wish they'd do away with the downtown ride-free area. It would definitely lead to less crowded buses and people who won't pay their fare when they disembark outside the ride-free area. I think that would have been a better solution than to raise the parking rates.

I think that would have been a better solution than to raise the parking rates. those who support the ride-free area say its good for downtown tourism (which is debatable) and it helps the homeless or those with low income get around but i don't like the idea of metro reducing night/weekend routes because of budget issues so i'm torn on the issue.

fyi...Thai Curry Simple is set to open this week for a "preview" Thursday at 11 AM, according to http://www.thaicurrysimple.com. The new to-go only eatery will have an all-veggie menu and will re-activate the shack left empty since the departure of Barista Boyz coffee. You can follow them on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/thaicurrysimple

I saw that this morning! But as much as I love Mighty-O, I still have 7 donuts left on my birthday gift certificate, which expires in March. So no more donuts for me.

I've been burned by way too many mixed veggie / meat thai restaurants (especially seafood). I just refuse to take that gamble anymore.
