When a spammer hits at several locations on the boards, do you want us to report each post we stumble upon by the same spammer, or is reporting one of their posts enough? I assume that their whole account will be deleted, essentially getting rid of all of their posts, but you know what happens when you assume.

good question! reporting one post is enough. We can delete all of their posts. But it's not necessarily bad to report all of their posts because sometimes one post gets buried and we might not notice it. So, either way is fine. If you see a spammer with a million posts, don't feel like you need to open each one and report it, but if multiple people report the same spammer, that's fine too.

Thanks, ijdi! Sometimes I'll notice that a spammer has hidden posts in various forums (fora) rather than making an bunch of obvious ones in the same place, so those were the ones I was mainly wondering about. I'll report them as I come across them!

I tend to go after the biggest spammers first, so it's useful to see all the flagged posts at once, but it's certainly not necessary to go in and flag each post.

if we get spam as a private message, should that be reported somewhere?

Yes, please! But you should also PM a moderator too, because reported PMs aren't very obvious.

Oh but if it was Anniediego, please delete it. That user's been banned already.

I probably should know this, but: How do we find out who the moderators are? Thanks.

If you go to the board index, scroll all the way to the bottom, there's a box that says Who is Online that lists who's been on the PPK recently. Moderators have orange usernames, like mine. Or you can click the Board Moderators link and that will take you to a list.

How do you define the spammers? Like, what is their tell-tale sign? Are they just posting the same info on different threads?

You'll know it when you see it.

If it smells like spam, and it quacks like spam, it's probably spam. And if it's probably spam, it might as well be spam because I'm going to nuke it regardless.

Please report all spam. Thanks to everyone who does!
