Anyone know if there's a list anywhere of vegan yarns that are available to buy in the UK?

I couldn't see anything on the earlier thread about inexpensive yarn

Thanks

What do you need one for? I haven't seen one but all yarns in store and online that I see have a contents list on.

There are lots of vegan groups on Ravelry but sadly not often UK-specific :( I've just been using inexpensive acrylic stuff for my recent projects, charity shops can be a really good place to look!

Just trying to see what yarn might be available in the UK, some items go under the radar when you google. There's a new store opening up in the UK in Oxfordshire in the NY here that sounds promising

A lot of the major brands have vegan-by-accident yarns - I guess it depends on if you are willing to buy from companies that produce non-vegan yarns as well. Your best bet is heading to Ravelry and doing a search by fibre content. There are a whole bunch of really nice bamboo and cotton blends these days which are vegan. You can even get "vegan silk", aka viscose. Blue Sky Alpacas have an amaaaaazing 100% cotton that's super soft. Sirdar do some great synthetics and bamboo yarns. Rowan do some linen and cotton blends which are great as well.

Hello,

I'm a newb here but really wanted to let you all know that I've recently opened up an online vegan yarn store, imaginatively titled Vegan Yarn Store!

You can find it at http://www.veganyarnstore.com

The stock is quite small at the moment as I've done this on my own without any financial support from banks or investors but I'm really hoping that with time and support from the vegan craft community I'll have a kick-ass inventory!

You can keep up to date with the happenings on the FB page (https://www.facebook.com/VeganYarnStore) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/VeganYarnStore). Also feel free to ask any questions and make suggestions here on this thread! It's a new venture (I've been open for 10 days!) and so your input is really welcome.

Kelly x

Oooh, the yarn you have in your store is all so lovely! I want it all! The stuff that looks like Noro is just what I have been looking for too!
I've shared the site with my local vegan knitting knitting group so hopefully that will help drum up a bit of business for you :)

Try Stash-a-Yarn:

They send cool boxes and they might be able to suit your needs :)
I had some specific requests and they were very nice & friendly about helping me out.

I am a super duper new complete beginner at knitting but have already gone a little bit knitting-mad. While I'm learning and using big chunky needles and big chunky yarns, am I safe to buy anything that's 100% acrylic? Will there be any cheeky non vegan things to consider on top of that?

Thanks!
