I'm in this thing again. I sort half-assedly tapered off sugar last week, but today was my first true day with no sugar. I have been so exhausted all day, and it made me realize just how much I rely on sugar to sustain my energy throughout the day. I'm glad to be breaking myself of that, but it sucks for now. I need to manage my time better so I'm getting more than 4-6 hours of sleep, and that will hopefully help with the insane cravings.

Now if anyone can tell me how to run a baking business for a living without actually eating anything I bake, I would appreciate it.

Ugh, my PCOS is kicking my asparagus. I think I need to cut out sugar.

I had 5 random cupcakes and two giant chocolate chip cookies just hanging around my house, so I packaged them up and sent them with my husband to take to a client/friend's office. I am so glad to get them out of the house!

Also, my husband has become my official taste-tester but he's not much of a sweets person (unless it's juice/soda/tea/other sugary drinks, which he drinks in shocking quantities), so he's already getting tired of it.

I don't envy you one bit poopieb! It must be incredibly hard to stay sugar free with such serious temptation.

I'm on the cutting back on sugar train at present. Sugar had snuck back into my tea which I haven't done in years unless I was in shock about something (like someone dying, getting mugged). I didn't add it in to my tea a few times yesterday and I wasn't enjoying my tea so today I resorted to using agave. I actually prefer it so that has made today go a bit easier.

After three days with zero sugar, I can report that strawberries taste AMAZING.

I don't know how you manage it with all your baking, poopie! That is seriously impressive. Every time I bake something, I end up licking the bowl and the spoons and eating more batter/dough/frosting than I plan. Even if I don't eat any of the finished product, I still end up eating a lot of sugar!

It's been really hard, to be honest! Tuesdays are my second-busiest day of the week, and today was pretty rough. I didn't have a single taste, not even of the peanut butter mousse, which is probably my favorite thing ever. If I make it through tomorrow (my busiest day) with no sugar, then I will be pretty proud of myself.

I'm on day 14 of NO sugar (including no unrefined sugars like agave and maple syrup), and no white flour. My cravings are GONE. Like, if you put a cinnamon roll in front of me right now, I wouldn't even want it. You guys have no idea how much sugar I was eating before two weeks ago. I bake all our bread and I was probably eating four generous slices a day between toast and sandwiches. And of course all the taste-testing of everything I bake. Plus extra cookies laying around, cupcakes, weekly pancakes... I was using sugar as a cure for tiredness, hunger, boredom - the works. That's not counting all the white rice and pasta I was eating. It feels so good to be free of that!

I'm trying to do a "no sugar added" January. as in, some soy milk or whatever will have sugar in it which I won't stress about, but I won't eat sugary treats or add sugar to things myself.

it's day 1. I'm sipping ginger tea and it's not sweet. I just ate a banana out of desperation. am I doomed? I think I'm doomed. I'm doomed. oh god, tell my family I love them.

I got a bunch of manner wafers for christmas, I still have chocolate mousse, and a shipment of chocolate from the US arrived 2 days ago that I didn't yet touch. LONG MONTH. DOOMED.

You can do it!

I need to cut back again. My sugar cravings aren't as intense lately because of a decrease in the medication that causes the cravings. Over Christmas I've been driving a lot of sugary drinks so that will be my first thing I will cut back on.

I want to go the entire month of January, using only dried fruits and molasses as my sweeteners.

I feel so much better when I don't eat sugar, but I slipped during the holiday season/end of the quarter crunch time (and ate several packages of oreos). I also want to cut out refined flours, so no white flour here!

eh, I have plenty of willpower :) I'll make it no problem, but it's fascinating how much of an impact it's having on me. would never have thought I'd notice it so much

I got through today without drinking any fizzy drinks! yay me! I did have a few sweets but I did manage to avoid eating a chocolate bar I had in my bag.

Oh wait, I had a very small glass (about 100mls) of 7-up. But that was because I was feeling so queasy after some co-workers having a 30minute conversation about cooking meat while I was eating.

I wonder if you done the frozen banana thing then blended it with some chocolate extract would it do the trick? I must buy some bananas and try it.

When I did the no sugar thing for 3 months I didn't manage to substitute anything. But by the end of it chai tea with soy milk tasted like a sweet treat. I'd love to get back to this. I hope I'll just eat a lot less sugar by default by doing the 100-a-month spending thing. Unless I start having bars of chocolate as a meal substitute :/

ahah I'm really trying not to substitute too much, as that reinforces the same habits/patterns that I'd rather just break

though I did buy pineapple today specifically because it's sweet. I feel like it's (kinda) cheating. good cheating, but still cheating. I'll try not to scarf it all down at once :)

yessss, already for me (4 days in), the milk in my cereal is the sweetest part of my day..and while I don't feel entirely satisfied by it (because of old habits), I *do* fantasise hours later about the sweetness

Yeah, I find once I am off sugar I don't mind and actually enjoy food more because I am not being controlled by sugar cravings. I find substitutes help a lot when I am coming off though to ease the transition. I had the last of my swedish glace today.

I need to buy a new frying pan when I get paid Thursday so I can start making some sugar free pancakes in the morning again because otherwise I have a sugary cereal or porridge which I end up adding sugar too.
