Is anybody watching this? I DVR'd the first episode and have to say, I am riveted. Admittedly I will watch anything with Woody Harrelson, but McConaughey is really really good in it (so far).

I guess the show is only slated for something like 8 episodes, but I heard its going to be brought back for future seasons but with different characters, actors, and stories.

i dig it. surface impression: Hannibal adapted by a humorless coen brother. i don't know whether that sounds good to people, but i mean it in a pretty good way.

Acr, that is actually a perfect description, and yeah, if someone described a movie to me that way I'd totally watch it.

That is exactly what I thought from the commercials! I totally want to see it. Will have to find a way to stream.

I loved the first episode. I was definitely mesmerized, but had a hard time explains why. Thought the second was not quite as good, but I will still be watching the whole season.

My husband didn't like the second episode as much either, but I really liked it because it was definitely a character-driven episode. It filled in a lot more of the "where are these guys coming from, what's their story" questions I had from the first episode. I think he was expecting a lot more action and movement in the solving the murders part of the story.

I'm telling you, if McConaughey doesn't win some sort of award for this, I don't even know.

The show has a Twin Peak-y feel to me that I like. I hope that the plot lines don't get too sprawling and leave a lot of loose ends by the end of the season. So far so good, though.

I think the acting by both McConaughey and Harrelson is excellent.

The opening titles are cool, too, and remind me of Six Feet Under because of the use of whiteness. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same title designer.

yeah, the second episode felt very Fire Walk with Me, with the diary and the drugs and the king references and all that. it made me a little nervous, because i don't want this to turn into a collage of all the best aspects of earlier murder mysteries, but so far this show seems like it could hold its own. even if it spiraled into derivative corn, i'd probably keep watching it just for the soundtrack.

Us too! We both did the slow turn look at each other with that same "ugh" face.

I'm telling you, I want MM to come to my house, sit at my table, drink beer, and just talk at me about religion and philosophy and TV shows and candy bars and bongos or whatever he wants to talk about. I could listen to him talk (like he talks on the show) for days, I think.

You guys! Last night's episode totally redeemed itself from the week before (for me). I honestly have no idea what's going to happen! Any speculation? And here's a little geeky reading for you:

I got through 4 eps tonight. Love it. But danger: may cause loving Matthew McConaughey. Worth the risk.

This show is so good. We sat around trying to get the HBO Go that we steal from my sister to work, but it seemed to be overloaded with people trying to watch it or something! Nooo. Can't wait to try again tonight.

Hurry up and watch the finale everyone. I'm still trying to decide if I'm satisfied with it. (Since I spent all day searching the internet for finale analysis, I think the answer is probably yes.)
