I have agave nectar but not maple syrup. Buying maple syrup isn't out of the question, but I'd rather make do with what I have. Can I sub the agave in and get the sameish result? If so, would I still do the full 1/4 cup?

i've done it and they came out the same!

and yeah, i used the same amount of agave to maple even though i think agave is sweeter than maple syrup. they are cookies, so whatevers.

I have always made these cookies with agave nectar, because I can't bring myself to spend the money on maple syrup.
