I gave two tours today. That's about 5 solid hours of talking. I didn't mess anything up! People enjoyed them and thanked me!

...and then a couple of older gentlemen actually _tipped me_. For a tank museum tour. I tried to beg off, but the first guy practically shoved it into my pocket and I didn't want to make a thing of it, but it was weird.

^^^ awwww! way to go! i bet you led a great tour and it really made their day. when people want to give me a tip, i always try to accept it kindly; they've already decided in their minds that they want to give it to you-- it makes them feel good and you feel good bc yay money. everybody wins!

my co-worker's wife went grocery shopping this weekend and picked up roasted seaweed snacks in a few flavors on a whim and apparently no one in their house actually likes them, so I got 2 packs for free with only 1 sheet missing! my other co-workers also dislike them apparently. best.

Yeah, that's what I did-- thanked them, acted humble. (It's not really an act.)

They were pretty good tours! I know the stuff I know really well. I get a little incoherent in the early bits-- a bunch of vehicles are right near one another but not in an order that lends itself to explaining the history. (The T-34s are after the Panther, if that means anything to you.) It's hard not to just start off with about a 20-minute infodump with a lot of pointing at things too far away to see well. But I didn't actually freeze up like I did the first time around, and hey, if I get lost a bit in the first ten or fifteen minutes, everyone will have forgotten after 2 more hours of solid tanks. It's a pretty hardcore tour-- if you're coming to the tank museum you'd better REALLY LIKE TANKS, because that's all you're gonna get.

So yeah! I have another day of tours on the 30th, and now I need to get on next month's schedule too!

Yay tours!

Today I did Dutch taxes and made mole. (Tomorrow, I get to buy folders to organize paperwork for US taxes AND ALSO VOTE in my first ever Dutch election. It's just for the city council, but I'm looking forward to it!)

voting? you lucky duck!

i am using my new beer cauldron to make soymilk and while i'm sure i will be crying later when i have to scrub off the crust, it is SO NICE to not have the soymilk boil over all over the stove. why did i not think of this before? (I've had the beer cauldron in storage for a year)

I recently met a woman at my music/beer joint hangout who makes sock monkeys.
Since I am obsessed with Sasquatch, I asked her to make me one.

It's spring break this week, so I'm only working one of my three jobs (at least until tomorrow when I'm going to be popping in to make sure the install is going well), and instead of panicking about all the extra time I have on my hands, I've been really working on enjoying myself and getting things done. Yesterday I cleaned my apartment for the first time in…a very long time, and it feels so good to be able to sit on the couch and read a magazine and not worry about the filth building up in the bathroom. I'm not going to kid myself by saying I'm going to work hard to keep it up, but I'm going to enjoy my clean space while it lasts, at least.

I saved the day for all of my fellow students both yesterday and today. I worked my butt off even though it wasn't really my responsibility, and I feel forking awesome about it. Currently celebrating my awesomeness by being pantless in bed drinking beer and rewatching VMars.

Mom is being a superhero about my (ugh) CA tax situation. We use the same HR Block representative, and mom's been on the phone with her and is going to deliver her papers on my behalf. Superhero mom's are the best.

Playing online Cards Against Humanity with CQ and Mars and other people! I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

I slept for 13 hours, spent most of the day in my pajamas, cooked awesome seitan steaks and then went to see my friends bands.

This is a very small thing, but after a year of using a Windows phone, I spent £200 on a Motorola Razr i and I cannot begin to describe how good it feels to be back with an android phone

At my Korean lesson today*, my teacher complimented me on my pronunciation, and that made me feel pretty good. (Pronunciation's easier than the vocab and grammar, though.)

*
Spoiler: show
These lessons mean so much to me for a bunch of personal and/or absurd reasons. So a compliment like this is great! After only (?) six months, I'm still definitely a beginner.
