This cookbook just came out and I really like it. I have enjoyed his other books, but now how heavy they were on sides. I am really enjoying this one, though, because I can nearly always turn a soup into a hearty main meal.

(And the recipe for Brazilian Black Bean Soup with Plantain Chips)

I've made a few recipes since January and have enjoyed them all immensely. The only other book I have of his is Taste of Europe and I really appreciate the simplicity and variations that his recipes provide.

So far I've tried:
~Roasted Brussel Sprout & Red Cabbage Soup topped with Caramelized Onions & Tempeh Bacon (Oh my, I made this back in January and still find myself thinking of it!)
~Ragout of Fall Vegetables (A scrumptious broth bursting with veggies)
~Ethiopian Stew (I'm a spice wimp, but I used his Berbere recipe w/o fenugreek and I thought this was delicious)
~Cha-Cha Chili w/ Tempeh topped w/ Raw Creme Fraiche
~Cheesy Cauliflower Soup topped w/ Red Pepper Coulis & Krispy Kale (Amazing!)

Zula - I also LOVED that Brussels Sprouts soup! so different and so good. I haven't tried any of the other ones you've made - thanks for the tips!! I'll have to make a note to try those ones next. :)

Great blog review and your blog is so cute! I love the photos and charming illustrations. I'm going to remember to try the soups you mentioned as well!

I don't see the review at that link, btw.

Some of the hits I have really enjoyed:
Jamaican jerk plantain soup
Holy mole soup with veggies
Polish vegan sausage and sauerkraut stew

The peasant soup was a bit weak for me, though

Oh god, like I need more reasons to make soup. I love soup and gave a lot of trouble keeping it at once a week.

That tomato soup with dill sounds stupidly amazing, ameyfm. Yummo.

I shared my version of the delicious maque choux here: http://tastespace.wordpress.com/2014/05 ... que-choux/

I really like this cookbook. Filled with veggie-centric one-pot meals. :)
