Pasta (shells, then angel hair because I ran out of shells)
Hickory smoked I Can't Say It's Cheese
coconut creamer (this might have been expired, but I'm not dead, so...)
Earth Balance
Smoked Paprika
garlic
salt
hot sauce (aka, more salt)
+ butternut squash about 2 steps away from going bed (I've had this bisque forever!)

= weirdest thing I've made all semester. These ingredients were literally the only foodstuffs in my apartment.
The verdict?
Strangely forking tasty! I think without the butternut squash I'd make it again and really enjoy it.
I don't recommend trying to replicate this at home. It signals a certain kind of desperation--that of broke college student during midterms. Oy.

Outrageously awful webcam photo:

Since I might currently be in a state of delirium, I'll weigh in on whether or not I can stomach the leftovers tomorrow.

That does not sound strange at all to me. And it looks good!

Well, kudos on making it work! It doesn't seem that weird to me, unless you have the same (french vanilla) coconut creamer that I do. In which case.. a little weird.

This reminds me of esme's sauce and eppy's greasy nooch noodles. Did those recipes come with the new boards or do we need to beg someone for them again?

I've had esme's sauce, but what are Eppy's greasy nooch noodles?? They sound glorious. I don't know why greasy something sounds so good to me right now.

ETA: I just went back for seconds and i'm enjoying the squash even more now. Mmm squash.

Haha... I mix long pasta and short pasta all the time... I'm glad I'm not the only one!

And that does look pretty dang good.

I love that you call it long and short pasta! I do it a lot too, but it drives my boyfriend crazy--he's a texture freak.

Yeah, my boyfriend doesn't like it when I do that, either... He'll eat it usually, just long as there's some good sauce on it. But once I had to mix bowties with fettuccini because I was so low on both, and my boyfriend couldn't do it. I had to give him bread to go with the sauce I made.

You know those kitchen experiments can lead to genius recipes. Maybe you stumbled onto a hidden talent of being a forking awesome chef.

Yeah, that doesn't sound that bad at all! It's like a smokey mac and cheese.

The leftovers were even better! It tasted so much like mac and cheese.

I'm wondering how it would be if I did this sans the We Can't Say It's Cheese. Like...do a EB, garlic, and smoked paprika butternut squash puree. Maybe some nooch for good measure.
