You guys. Taking pictures of your makeup is hard. When you're me, I guess, the rest of you seem to have no problems.
I just spent like 20 minutes trying and my best attempt just looks like I haven't slept in 8 days because I'm on a heroin binge. Maybe it's not the camera's fault, maybe that's just how my makeup looks normally and I'm in extreme denial. Hm.

I know, I took this pic on Sat. and am just gettin around to uploading, but I think I have a booger. and my top lip looks like I have some disease, because I'm a bit chapped. but overall a good effort.

Fee, I'm sure you look gorgeous. You take cute pictures with Chester all the time.

Everyone is so pretty. I need to learn how to apply makeup without looking like... well, like how Fee claims to look.

I have a fear of eyeshadow. I feel like it will make me look like I'm 5 and playing in mommy's makeup bag I don't know what I'm doing... because I don't. How did everyone learn? Basics, people, help!

Yeah. I tried taking pics of my successful gold eyeshadow attempt after amandabear's advice. It was not happening, and you can't even really make out the eyeshadow properly. I look bored/dead or surprised/stupid or like I have a giant face in all of them. Also my face is so pale relative to the background that most of it overexposes?

Me too! I really wanted to post a picture today because my boss complimented my makeup and said it looked "professional" but you can barely tell I'm wearing it in the pictures. But on the bright side, here's an excellent impression of a blow up doll for the ppk

Perhaps you have to remove any sort of a flash setting because it washes the color out? Just a guess.

I tried that, but then you really can't see anything, my whole face just looks yellow. My house has not-so-excellent lighting.

I don't know how I learned to put on makeup. My mom doesn't wear it, so I guess I just kind of made it up? Seriously, though, there are tons of makeup tutorials on youtube. TONS. I like to watch them when I'm bored and feel like trying new stuff, but they'd be a great way to learn too.

Yeah, I had it turned off on my webcam because it will always have that problem, but it was still overexposing - I guess because my face is just inherently really high key or something. It's better today actually - just due to cloudier light from my windows I suspect - but I'm not wearing gold eyeshadow anymore!

After typing this much about it I think the best thing to do might be to just take one photo without thinking very much and sticking with that.

Kidding! Actually you look great, none of this horror you're going on about.

Something that helped me also was working out which colours suit me (tonnes of stuff that looks great on other people is too dramatic on me), and also learning first with more neutral and non-shimmery shades than what I might have initially been inclined towards (when they're in packaging anyway). I think all of it is probably just a matter of somewhat educated experimentation though.

There's definitely a handful of less flattering ones that will never make it off the camera!

This is me as well. I've started watching Melisser's tutorials and have learned a ton, now I just have to be brave enough to actually try them out.

I think I'll definitely go conservative... and yes, I'm sure I'll need to just try and practice a lot and hope I don't get frustrated and give up (which is quite likely to happen).

The sheer multitude is kind of crazy. It would be kind of fun to follow a tutorial and then post the end result for all to see - I have a handful of favorites that I might try that with next time I'm bored and feel like playing with makeup.
