Hi all, I know the filling itself if fine. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a gluten free pie crust recipe to use with smlove pie. I want to take this to a party next week and would like my friend with celiac to be able to indulge.

Someone else can probably give a better answer, but for passover one year I made a raw nut-based crust. It's not the same as a traditional graham cracker or cookie crust, but it was tasty.

I was thinking maybe something nut based. Thanks. I will see if there are any other thoughts as well.

last time i made it i made the crust with gluten-free cookies instead of graham crackers. it was really good. i think a nut-based crust would be great too!

What brand of gluten free cookie did you use? I know there is a pretty wide range from yummy to yucky so I want to get a decent one. I have a pretty good gluten free product range available at my store. Crackers I know (I tend to crave salty junk). Cookies not so much so.

You can make a crust out of rice krispies-type cereal (though NOT actual Rice Krispies--those are sweetened with barley malt). Use earth balance and vegan marshmallows like you are making rice krispie treats, but press the goop into your pie plate. Yum.

I like nut crusts. I think a pecan and almond one would work well. I never put a binder like dates in mine either since I care more about taste than structure.

I usually do an oat crust for smlove pie. I just use rolled oats, about 1.5-2 cups, mix with plain sweetened soy yogurt and then press it in and pre-bake it like a graham crust. It's not super sweet and has good texture, perfect for smlove. I also use this for the lost coconut custard pie as well.
