Its heartbreaking that on the first day of the bear hunt (the first in 5 years), 260 bears were killed. It doesn't matter what size, age or gender they are. And the hunt will go on for 6 days.

Call the gov's office at 609-292-6000 to show support for ending the hunt early and wildlife control about it at 908-735-8793 to tell them to stop the hunt. Its a few minutes of your time, but may save a bear's life.

Also, the permit fee to kill a bear - $2.

wow yeah. I don't know what happens in Maryland but from what I understand, bear hunting is allowed.

They are estimating about 1000 bears will be killed.

I saw a brief mention of this on TV this morning and thought of you.

The small snippet of fottage they showed made me very sad.

THey've killed almost 400 bears. They bait every imaginable area with jelly donuts and then fire away. They're also not respecting the perimeter around homes. How is any of this a good idea?
