ha yeah, definitely not if you are claustrophobic. and i would try to go at an 'odd' time (although i have no idea when that would be, maybe right when it opens). i went once and it was too crowded to even look around and all the stuff people had there.

I heard that it has been bad for a few years due to location and air conditioning issues.

I want to go, but dislike people too close in proximity as well.

So, these claustrophobia/hipster-sweatbox comments, are they about the Starlight Ballroom venue? I went to the '09 Summer edition and it wasn't crowded, but if I recall, that was Sunday AM of a two-day'er. I could totally see that it was going to get dreadful and packed by the time we we left, but with it being winter maybe it wouldn't be so bad earlier in the day?
But this year's event is at some form of dome across the street, it seems. So, maybe it'll be less UGH than Starlight? Or maybe they've rented the Terrordome, or the Thunderdome. That'd be sweet.

One year during the summer they had it somewhere other than the Starlight, and I read a bunch of reviews that it was horrible. The place was too small and had no AC. But, I'm pretty sure they have evolved since then and made sure that won't happen again. At least it's December and there is no need for AC, so that should be a plus. Crowds don't bother me. Although, I'm sure going earlier in the day is a better idea since I want to take my time and actually look at stuff. No point in going if I can't actually browse the merch!

Updated info! Quote: It's our most popular event of the year and it's taking place in a brand new gigantic location (about three times the size of all of the older flea market venues) which we have dubbed "The Punk Rock Flea Market Dome" which is a large building directly across the street from The Starlight Ballroom (just below 9th and Spring Garden). It's the perfect spot to find that unusual holiday gift for family and friends.
Speaking of gifts, we will be giving someone quite the holiday present on Saturday. We will be giving away a FREE R5 LIFETIME PASS to a lucky individual who attended the flea market. When you make an entry donation at the door, you will be given a raffle ticket to write your phone number on the back of. At 4pm we will pull one raffle ticket, call that lucky person and he or she will be able to get into any and every R5 show for free for the rest of their lives! Not too shabby! We are def going on Saturday.

Me too! I was thinking of getting my MIL a Kindle, but couldn't really afford one. So maybe I can find a nice used one for a good price.

Which is ok and what I expected. Lots of vegan snacks for sale. Lots of clothes and jewelry. Vintage and recycled items. Prints, photos, posters, and handmade items. Records, vhs tapes, and dvds. We didn't get anything. Im glad we went though. It was good.

It was so crowded but fun. I found a couple items of clothing and my son found a Batman night light and a Gizmo (from the Gremlins) t-shirt.
