You guys, I am obsessed with this cardigan pattern! I want to make it, but a little longer like some of the versions I've seen on ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... t-cardiganMy problem is I don't knit enough to know what vegan yarn sub would be good. And I've never knit a real garment before. Could you guys help me out? The pattern calls for "Malabrigo Yarn Lace," which is merino wool.

Let me know when you plan on starting! We could try and knit it together. It will take me a while to track down some decent yarn (or rather the money to pay for it).

i am thinking about this http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library ... knit-cardionly not the reverse stockinette. i have a nice dark grey that would look good in this, maybe a bit longer. i also liked antipodes http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/antipodes but think it's a bit too complicated. also don't have anything strange to edge it with and that usually doesn't end well. i looked at the project pages for both and hate to say that all the antipodes projects look like something i'd never wear in a million years. the pattern pics are so loose and floaty but i'm not a loose and floaty kind of girl... the project pics for allegoro look a little more realistic, so i think i am going to go with it.

Those look cool! I'm still stuck on the other cardigan even if the pattern is 4.95. If I end up getting it I'll send you the PDF.

Wait, which one did you start? The one I mentioned or the free one you linked to? I'm working on my first pair of mittens! They're a little sloppy, but I'm learning so much: magic loop, thumb gusset, increases, decreases, sizing it for myself. I found a bunch of free classes through the knitpicks site: http://www.knitpicks.com/Tutorials/Knit ... rials.htmlAfter working these mittens I think I'll actually be able to tackle a pair of socks.

Featherweight seems like it would suit a yarn with a lot of drape, so something like bamboo or linen could also work.

The free one. I'm so predictable. I miss making mittens. When the kid was little I made them like crazy. Thumb gusset, ah how i miss you!!

My needle is the smaller kind: the sewing needle. This is a giant clutch. I didn't like it so much right after I made it but now I want to cuddle it like a teddy bear while I sleep.
