I made these for my grandfather's birthday! Trying to artfully mold bao dough is the kitchen equivalent of herding cats. I have no idea how people get these to look so nice. I made about 20 and had 6 that were passable. I also made the red bean paste from scratch and made too little, so I had to be stingy.

I should have take pictures of the ugly ones. I could have called them "organic peaches." They looked like they had bao cancer and as if they had a serious case of chicken pox as a child.

Adzuki beans that were cooked in a combo of water and coconut milk, then mashed with sugar and some oil for texture.

I have a hard getting my regular bao to come out nice and smooth and round, so I'm extra impressed by artful bao. Beautiful!
