Can you take garlic pills with antibiotics? or is that overkill?

Can you ever NOT take garlic might be the better question. (i think there may be some slight blood thinning qualities of garlic so i suppose there is a limit for some people).

I was just coming in here to moan about how sick my antibiotics make me feel. i can only imagine that with garlic. i already have such horrible heartburn. The doctor tried to pre-emptively prescribe something for it that i think was prilosec? And I said, no, i don't take stuff like that and if i have heartburn i will take Tums, and the other doctor (not mine) said "you will ruin your stomach by base-ifying it and then you'll never be able to digest anything again". I wanted to say "you are a dermatologist, what the fizzle do you know" but instead said it sounded a lot like poppycock to me, thank you very much, and i left.

of course, now, i have heartburn, and so i'm bitchier than usual, but base-ify my stomach? i still think that's a load of shiitake.
maybe i should try garlic.
